Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)

What is Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) ?

MRO or ‘maintenance, repair, and operations’ in supply chain management refers to a set of activities and processes linked to facility maintenance, such as the maintenance of physical structures or buildings, the upkeep of facility systems, and the supervision of production-related machinery. In other words, an MRO product might be anything employed in the final good’s manufacturing process.

MRO will be the company’s rescue strategy to streamline its operations, stay current with the rapidly changing market, and prevent primary resources from being wasted.

Industrial firms are currently subject to a wide range of substantial risks concerning their MRO supply chain in the event of non-control:

  1. Unexpected equipment failure
  2. Disappointed stakeholders
  3. Inventory of finished goods has increased
  4. Combined working capital with superfluous or outdated inventories
  5. Costly shipping
  6. Reduction in maintenance worker’s productivity
